Our president Joe Smith presided over the meeting.

According to the roster, there were 21 persons in attendance.

Wood and Tool Auction

The annual wood and tool auction was held and enjoyed by all. Once again (and for the last time – again) our own Bob Fleming did a superb job as auctioneer. The auction added about $360 to our club treasury. Many thanks to donators, buyers, and Bob.

Tom Schottle showed us a beautiful bowl he had turned from Mesquite.
Bob Fleming brought in a pair of "collector", signed, Jerry Glaser - gouges (handles from Cocobolo by Stuart Batty) he obtained at the AAW symposium.
Dave Jones showed us a neat gouge he had made based on a Mark St.Leger design.
He also had a couple attractive vases he had turned from pressed board,
and a really nice lidded vessel from Cherry.
Bob Lett brought in a couple of very nice bowls.
One was a natural edge bowl out of Walnut.
Byron Young had a couple of wonderful lidded vessels, one from Walnut
and the other from African Walnut.
He also had a marvelous cup and saucer ,I believe also from African Walnut.
Jerry Smith
brought in a beautiful set of four nested bowls he had turned from a Cherry burl.

Program

The session was devoted to a demonstration by Stan Cook and discussion by members on various finishing techniques.

Stan gave a demonstration on the use on CA glue as a finish for his pens and other items. Pens are items that are used on a daily basis, and most other wood finishes just will not hold up.
Stan showed us that CA glue could give a beautiful as well a durable finish.

We all found this demonstration extremely useful and interesting. Good job Stan!
