Our vice-president, Tom Schottle presided over the meeting. (As well as doing the program – He does it all!)

Business

E.J. reported that there is $3229 in the treasury.

Our June meeting will be held at Woodcraft in Parkersburg jointly with the Athens, OH club. We will be demonstrating and have a table set up for show off & tell for the public to see, so plan on having some of your best stuff ready for that.

Register before May 30 to get reduced rated at the AAW national symposium.

Do not forget the Ohio Valley Woodturners’ Symposium – "Turning 2009".

Tom really recommends the John C. Campbell Folk School.

Tom is talking to Kim Winkle as a possible demonstrator.

Show and Tell

Tom Schottle – A beautiful large Pecan plate. It was both spaulted and punky.  

He also had an attractive plate from Camphor wood.

He also brought a kaleidoscope he had made at the John C. Campbell Folk School. He showed us how these were made as part of his demonstration.

Dave Jones A nice Chinese Chestnut vase  
and a Walnut bowl from Walnut cut in 1976.
Dave also brought a beautiful Walnut plate
and a charming little table he had made for his Granddaughter.
Ervin Jones - A very nice hollowform from Box Elder.

 
Warnie Lore – A Beech bowl supported by a deer antler on a Maple base. Really fascinating.
Byron Young – A very attractive Ash cremation urn.

Program

Tom Schottle led an interesting and informative discussion on sanding and finishing. Then He showed us some of the things he has been learning at these workshops he has been attending.

 

Next Month’s Meeting

On June 13th we will have a meeting together with the Athens, OH, group to be held at Woodcraft in Parkersburg.

 

Miscellaneous

The Newsletter will be sent by email to those members who have given me their email address. This medium will contain an HTML document in which I have included links to pictures of the "Show and Tell" items as well as a link to the website. Those who do not have email addresses listed with me will receive the usual hardcopy newsletter by US snailmail. Any others who wish a newsletter by mail should let me know.

Please send me pictures of your work (CD, email, memory stick - - any JPEG file) so that I can add it to the gallery.
